Cleared cache and temp files related to "RiotGames" but nothing worked so I deleted all files (including app support files from library) then downloaded the mac installer which is dated (July 13, 2020) from Riot Games's website.
Since similar issue has happened to me before in years past, and usually it was fixed after clearing temp files or just re-installing, I did the same here. Suddenly, since yesterday the client refused to start up - the icon pops up on the dock but the splash title (League of Legends) doesn't come up and then the icon disappears from the dock after a few seconds. I've been regularly playing the game on my Apple Silicon M1 MacBook Pro for 3 months now (currently 11.2.2 Big Sur) without any issues and great performance. Trying posting here since this was removed from r/leagueoflegends.
